Bye Grandpa
The first time I lost a loved one was when I lost my grandpa when I was twelve years old, he died of emfezema, I dearly miss him since then, but also about three months after he died his wife/my grandma died. Pretty much from a broken heart.
The funeral and everything was sad, but the biggest thing I remember out of it was how it brought together my family and tons of family members that I hadn't seen in a long long time. It being the first funeral/family member that I had ever attended to I didn't know how to react to seeing the body lie in wake, that was probably the worst part and seeing my dad react that way to his parents die in months apart from each other, he went through a time of severe depression and has turned for the better since this happened. I built some close relationships with other family members in that time though, especially some cousins and aunts and uncles that I had very little knowledge of them even existing, but it brought us together more as a family more than I can even remember. After all the years I still haven't seen them as much as I want, in part because my dad is quite distant from his family now a days because of some severed ties to his brothers and sisters, he felt betrayed by them when it came to a family cabin.
Into the actual funeral...
I was young, I didn't know what would happen, the first funeral going to and all that is a big subject to any 11 year old. I had originally heard while watching 101 dalmations, stuff like that I tend to remember, the small details that have no purpose, but it's what I do. I can remember dates of random things (but that comes from a total different skill of basing information off of other information that I remember) but, as I said, I was watching the dalmations movie. It was christmas time, in fact right around November 28th, it was just a few days until Grandpa's birthday when we got the call, the call everyone hates. Hi, how are you, oh yeah, I forgot to tell you, Grandpa died last night. I'm sorry. That's basically how I remember it happening. I still miss both of my grandparents and I wish I had spent more time with them, fishing and doing anything that they loved. Regrettings one thing you can do after it's all said and done.
